Performance Team

What do I get out of being on a Performance/Demo team?

As a member of the Kungfu Dragon USA Demo Team, you will receive additional training and more individualized training attention.

Kids who are on the team will be allowed to train up a level.  This means select 5-7 year old may be allowed to train in the Young Beginners Program and 8-12 years old may be allowed to train in the 13+/Advanced class.

The team will be given additional after class instruction and specially trained for performances and competition.  Competition and performance lead to confidence.  It’s a way for you to develop a sense of strength and to let you test you skills against others.  By evaluating others, you’ll learn better how to improve yourself. You’ll have the opportunity to assess yourself, learn how to handle yourself under pressure. You’ll learn to face your own challenges, conquer your fear of being in front of a crowd. Challenging means it pushes you out of your comfort zone and gets you using your physical, mental and emotional muscles in ways you haven’t used before.  You’ll start to walk more confidently and be less of a mark for bullies.

You’ll get to experience the thrill of competition and the camaraderie of being on a team. You’ll learn some very important life skills: commitment, dedication, determination, perseverance, setting goals and achieving them, sportsmanship, teamwork and team spirit. You also learn on how to deal with the inherent unfairness of life, and how to work together with others for a bigger cause.  The focus is not all about winning, but more on mastering skills and situations, regardless of whether you win or lose. The focus is on master and not ego.

“It’s not all about winning.  Winning is fun, but it teaches you nothing. Failure is the best teacher in the world. Winning is a trophy, failing is an education.”
